Land O' Lakes woman dies after fall from golf cart

LAND O' LAKES, Fla. -- "It's just that that was the last image in my mind."

The image of death burns in the mind of Cindy Santiago after she saw 27-year-old Erika Robinson take her last breaths.

Santiago arrived just seconds after Robinson was jettisoned from a golf cart on Sheffield Road and St. George Place in Land O' Lakes.

"She was laying in the road.?They guy was trying to do CPR and she wasn't responding," she said.

Police say the driver, 28-year-old Nate Williams, took a sharp turn that hurled Robinson into the street.?Steve Wallace, a good Samaritan,?was first to try and help.

"I ended up just helping hold her neck back so she could be possibly revive her.?Anyway, she was in very serious condition," he said.

Residents in the area heard the accident. "All of a sudden we heard like brakes, screeching, a big screech," Sandy Jacoby said.

People use golf carts to get around?the community, but not everyone likes it. "Because they're dangerous.?You have to go really slow in a golf cart.?You really, really do because it's all open," Jacoby said.
