Meeting A Legend

The TV Guide

Last night I made my way to Book Soup in West Hollywood, CA to attend a book signing by the amazing actress Shohreh Aghdashloo. I have been a big fan of Shohreh‘s for years and when I found out that she had published a memoir back in June, I was very excited to give it a read. Unfortunately, I didn’t spend a lot of time reading this summer and, well, I’ve yet to read her book. I found out late last week that she was doing an in-person book signing here in LA and I knew I had to meet her in person. Altho I purchased the ebook version of her memoir The Alley of Love and Yellow Jasmines, I bought last night a hardcopy version of the book for her to sign. I can’t even tell you, it was just so amazing getting to meet this woman in person.

I fell in love with Shohreh Aghdashloo when she guest starred on season 4 of 24 (as Dina Araz, mother of the Behrooz Araz). Of course they cast the Iranian actress as a villain but she really made the role special. She started out a bad guy but ended up being a loving mother, someone to root and care for (even tho Jack Bauer wanted her dead). It was Shohreh who made me a fan of 24 (I went back and watched previous seasons to catch up) and I’ve been a fan ever since. Her performance in the film The House of Sand and Fog won her an Academy Award nomination, which was well deserved. Her voice is absolutely divine. The main reason, truly, that I wanted to attend the book signing was just to hear her speak in person. Her voice is like velvet. She was so cute and so charming last night. She answered everyone’s questions, signed everyone’s books and happily posed for photos. I’m so glad I was able to be home for her book signing because, as I said, it was an honor getting to meet her. As soon as I’m finished reading the current memoir I’m reading, I will make sure to read Shohreh‘s book immediately after :)

Tonight I’m hoping to meet up with Tam to see a movie. I was hoping to go to yoga with her but my legs are still a bit sore and I really don’t want to be moaning all class long. I hope you are having a great Tuesday!
