Summary Box: Factory orders show 2.4 pct. rebound (AP)

ORDERS REBOUND: Orders to U.S. factories rose a solid 2.4 percent in July. It was the largest increase since March and a rebound from a 0.4 percent decline in June.

AUTOS AND PLANES: The biggest jump in orders for autos in more than eight years and a sharp rise in commercial aircraft demand drove the gain.

FACTORY OUTLOOK: The increase suggests supply chain disruptions caused by the Japan crisis are starting to ease, and U.S. factory production could improve in the coming months.
