J-State loses big again, 92-59 at No. 12 Baylor (AP)

WACO, Texas ? Jackson State is taking its lumps in a tough early season schedule that coach Tevester Anderson hopes pays off when the Tigers get into conference play.

Jenirro Bush, the Southwest Athletic Conference preseason player of the year made only 3 of 15 shots, and Jackson State's biggest player fouled out without scoring while playing only 3 minutes in a 92-59 loss at 12th-ranked Baylor on Sunday night.

The loss came two days after the Tigers (0-2) opened their season with a 99-59 loss at eighth-ranked Florida. They still have a game at third-ranked Ohio State coming up next week.

"It was tough for us," Anderson said. "We played a little bit better today, but we've got a long way to go. That's a pretty brutal schedule. But schools like us, small schools like this, you've got to go out and play these kinds of games for your university, for the other programs, to generate funds for the other programs. It's OK. I'm used to it. I hope it prepares us for our conference play."

Meanwhile, freshman power forward Quincy Miller is off to quite a start for Baylor. He led the Bears (2-0) in scoring again with another 17-point effort.

Miller scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half, including all three 3-pointers. He had nine points during a 14-3 run to start the second half, and put the Bears up 60-32.

"My coaches told me to be confident from the start and shoot the ball, and that's what I did," Miller said. "In the first half, it wasn't falling as much, but in the second half it did."

Quincy Acy added 14 points, while Cory Jefferson had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Bears (2-0). Anthony Jones scored 11.

Baylor led the entire game and is now 41-0 against teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference, including both games this season.

Christian Williams had 14 points for Jackson State (0-2), which shot only 30 percent (19 of 63) and trailed by 35 points after halftime when the Tigers made only 7 of 31 shots.

Kelsey Howard added 12 points for Jackson State, which had 19 turnovers that Baylor turned in 27 points.

"The big thing you look at is defensively we were very good, especially the second half," Bears coach Scott Drew said.

Baylor had a definite size advantage over Jackson State, especially after Jamarious Sykes ? the Tigers' biggest player at 7-foot-2 and 270 pounds ? fouled out after playing just 3 minutes without scoring.

"That's never happened before," Anderson said of the quick foulout. "He was physical. He got his money's worth."

The Bears played the second of five games without suspended sophomore standout Perry Jones, a 6-foot-11 forward who was the Big 12 preseason player of the year.

Jones is halfway through a six-game NCAA suspension for accepting improper benefits before he got to Baylor. He had to sit out Baylor's Big 12 tournament game last March, then the first five games this season.

Bush scored 20 points for Jackson State against Florida.

"He was on Friday and just thought he was going to pick up where he left off on Friday," Anderson said. "It doesn't happen that way. He was off today. That's terrible. He's a much better than that.

"Florida is a much quicker team, but this is a much longer team. Each time (Bush) shot the ball, he shot over some 6-9, 6-10," the coach said. "These guys have arm spans like 7-4 guys. It's tough to shoot over those guys."
